Below you will find my story of my journey since 1-7-2013! This was posted by my gym that I am a member at. I share this in hopes that it might hit a place within you where you realize you are capable of the same things! Anyone can do it, but you have to start somewhere. And don’t be embarrassed of where that starting point is, because we all have one.
What a difference 105 days can make! After struggling with a food addiction, it’s great to know that dedication, commitment and a plan can lead to some amazing changes. Anytime Fitness of Franklin, Gallatin and Murfreesboro is pleased to introduce Dani Morio. Dani is another example that all it takes is a desire to change and you too can alter the direction of your fitness journey. Here is her story:
Can you tell me a little bit about your journey?
My journey has been a hard battle of addictions and emotions. I have been an emotional eater since I was young and with that came addiction. There has always been something about food that makes me happy. These bad eating habits led me to a very negative place, because I always craved very unhealthy food.
Since I began this journey I have studied and read many articles to educate myself about my food addiction. I used to take in thousands of calories each day high in sugars and saturated fats. Now I now take in between 1200-1500 calories a day. I no longer keep those unhealthy foods in my home as I no longer want or crave them. I have really turned to fruits now. The natural sugar in them is very satisfying to me.
Working out has become my stress reliever. Since I began my fitness journey I have been working out 5-6 days each week since January. Each day my stress and daily struggles and temptations have been channeled to a healthy outlet. I now find myself much happier and less bogged down in the negative things that happen in daily life. I can’t wait to reach Anytime Fitness for the best part of my day!
What made you come into the club that first time?
I chose Anytime Fitness without a second thought. My whole family are members in Indiana and they all love it. I have been as a guest before and the atmosphere of all the clubs are the same, welcoming and non-judgmental. No matter where you are beginning your fitness journey Anytime Fitness wants to help you too.
Was there a “wake up” call moment where you said enough is enough?
Yes, and it so happened to come with the New Year. I have lost weight in the past but never been able to keep it off. This year I was determined it was going to be different. I am almost 24 and I didn’t want my physical condition to continue to spiral downwards. I was determined not to let obesity steal my zest for life. I want to be able to do the kinds of things everyone does and not have my weight hold me back. This changed my reality. Losing the weight is great and looking smaller is awesome, but it pales in comparison to how I feel. I feel like I am getting my life back this year, and I am so thankful!
What has helped you along the way?
There are many things that have helped me, but mainly educating myself about diet that goes along with the exercise routine has been crucial. Understanding the body needs healthy fuel to power my workouts has been vital. Also, the support that I have received from my family, friends, and the staff at the Anytime Fitness has meant the world to me and continues to give me motivation on the rough days.
Thanks for asking me to share my story. I know I still have a ways to go. But I am so excited about the thought that my journey may inspire someone else to begin their own fitness journey. If you are thinking about getting off the couch and beginning to reclaim your life, I would highly recommend it. As for me, life has not looked this good in a long time. Physical fitness is a lifestyle with no final destination. I am just happy to be headed in the right direction.
